A look back at the greatest moments in Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships history and a simulated race involving the 19 previous winners of the Breeders' Cup Classic – Powered by Dodge (gr. I) will be featured in "20 to 1: The Breeders' Cup Legacy" to air Sept. 26 on NBC from 4:30-6:00 p.m. (ET).
The greatest Breeders' Cup moments will cover the entire 20-year-history of the event and include present-day interviews with key connections as well as vintage footage and interviews from when the "moment" first took place. Among the moments are Wild Again's win in the inaugural Classic, Personal Ensign's dramatic win over Winning Colors in the 1988 Distaff, Sunday Silence's showdown with Easy Goer in the 1989 Classic, Lure's back-to-back Mile wins in 1992-93; and Richard Mandella's four training victories in the 2003 Breeders' Cup

"The moments convey a broad spectrum of the breathtaking events on the racetrack, the dynamic personalities and the compelling human-interest stories that have all contributed to make the Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships the extraordinary event that it is," said D.G. Van Clief, Jr., president of Breeders' Cup Limited and acting commissioner of the National Thoroughbred Racing Association.

Also a part of the program is the "Ultimate Breeders' Cup Classic", a hypothetical race between the 19 winners of the Breeders' Cup Classic (there are only 19 different winners because Tiznow won both the 2000 and 2001 renewals.) This segment will include a morning line set by Mike Battaglia, a full video post parade, a race call by Tom Durkin and carefully edited film and video footage that will realistically simulate an actual mile-and-one-quarter race. The winner was selected via secret ballot by a panel of veteran horseracing writers and broadcasters.

Tied to the "Ultimate Breeders' Cup Classic is an online contest at www.ntra.com in which, starting Monday, Sept. 20, fans may select who they think will win the mythical race. Those selecting the correct horse will be entered into a random drawing to win two tickets to the 2005 Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships at Belmont Park in Elmont, N.Y., along with other prizes. Visit www.ntra.com for official rules.

NBC's Breeders' Cup broadcast team of Tom Hammond, Charlsie Cantey, Mike Battaglia, Bob Neumeier and Tom Durkin will all appear on "20 to 1: The Breeders' Cup Legacy", which also includes footage from Lone Star Park at Grand Prairie, the site of this year's Breeders' Cup Oct. 30.
